everyone keeps saying that some fo his movements are wrong but in all actuality, they are very correct, not much has changed since it was first created. some of the moves may have been changed, depending on your style, to make it easier to use in kombat, but the original is always best when honing techniques.

just bring the first knee up(dont kick out) but concentrate on the second kick.when u can do this,turn the knee raise into a mae geri and add the second one as practised..voila,Im sure u will soon be looking good.

I'm a 1st dan and I'm trying to really break down this kata could anyone give some advice on really making the last double front kicks at the end look nice? It would be much appreciated =)

my pops studied under kanazawa in the 70s , my dad was a brown belt when he learned this kata he is 4th dan. he said he was an exellent karateka.

my dad is a 1st dan and he is learing this kata for his 2nd dan and the kata is a bit different to the one in the video, also my dad trained with Kanazawa in 2006 even though he teaches a differnt style or whatever

i did go kan ryu years ago and the club changed over the years to kenshu kai - shenshu kai, some other one now its genshi ryoku lol im a 7th kyu ho (yellow belt orange tip) its good to know them katas now cuz when do need to learn them you will be good at them, i know 1st kata 2nd kata saifa bassa dai and seuinshin but i dont know empi yet lol

I got to train with him in shotokan week! He is incredibly dynamic in his moves and he teaches very well. Yay! i have finally got my first dan! I got to get judged by him. He is now 77!

He's Great! I love the Stance's I just learned that form.....My Sensei was Trained by Keinosuke Enoeda and Kanazawa, what an honor :D

you also have to remember when kanazawa was in his prime he used to train with all the head senseis that we could only dream about training with... but this video was taken probly like 50 years ago when they did not know alot about how powerfull the body could be when put in the right posistions... so he is doing many things that we would classify as wrong.... but back then they are completly right.. he would be our valdesi 50 years ago |
